Electrocoagulation involves the removal of dilated capillaries by coagulating the blood with heat generated by an electric current, a moderate current inducing coagulation in the distended capillary. The body then absorbs the unused capillary. This treatment is called capillary coalysis, that is, the treatment by which unsightly and distended capillaries are absorbed and eliminated by the body.

Electrocoagulation is effective on:

Telangiectasia (broken capillaries)

Nasal telangiectasia is a common phenomenon and can cause significant cosmetic and psychological problems. Although there exist various lasers and chemical treatments for nasal telangiectasia, insufficient effect and side effects such as purpura and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation are common. We used needle-assisted electrocoagulation as treatment for nasal telangiectasia with success.

Ruby points

Ruby points are highly concentrated dialated capillaries and can be flat to the skin or larger and slightly raised.

They are very common and can be found on many areas of the body. They are usually treatable in one session depending on quantity.

Skin tags

Skin tags are benign skin growths common to many people and of all ages. Skin tags can have a small or large base. They are usually the same colour as the skin or darker. Skin tags are removed by High Frequency heat that forms a small scab which in turn, falls off in 3-7 days.

Skin tags form on many different parts of the body and can be removed in one to three sessions depending on quantity.

Seborheic Keratosis

Seborheic Keratosis is a common benign skin growth that appears on many areas of the body, back and chest being the most common. They have a rough warty feel to them. They range from white to black but most are a tan or brown colour

These growths can be burned off and returned flush to the skin. Depending on quantity, one or more sessions may be required.
